Stimpson's surfclam is under protection and conservation measures to protect its reproductive potential and the integrity of the population (beds) in the Quebec region. The beds of this layer are described as being known and commercially exploited historically and / or currently and have undergone validation and delineation processing with a good degree of precision. They are located in the Estuary and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, on the North Shore and the Magdalen Islands. The beds of this layer are considered among the most abundant in Stimpson's surfclams and used for commercial fishing (note: the high densities are not strictly found in these beds). They are mainly recognized as vulnerable during the breeding season from June to July. There may be secondary spawning in the fall as well.

The data layer contains information on the total area each bed's polygon, the areas and names of the beds, the target sectors, and the breeding and fishing periods.

La mactre de Stimpson est visée par des mesures de protection et de conservation ayant pour objectif de protéger son potentiel reproducteur et l'intégrité des population (gisements) dans la région du Québec. Les gisements de cette couche sont décrits comme étant connus et commercialement exploités historiquement et/ou actuellement et ont subi un traitement de validation et de délimitation avec un bon degré de précision. Ils sont situés dans l'estuaire et le Golfe du Saint-Laurent, sur la Côte-Nord et les Îles-de-la-Madeleine. Les gisements de cette couche sont considérés parmi les gisements les plus abondants en mactre de Stimpson et sont utilisés pour la pêche commerciale (à noter: les fortes densités ne s'en tiennent pas qu'à ces gisements). Ils sont principalement reconnus vulnérables pendant la saison de reproduction de juin à juillet. Il pourrait y avoir une ponte secondaire à l'automne également.
