Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>In 2018 and 2019 Fisheries and Oceans Canada conducted a project to relocate American Eel (Anguilla rostrata) from Port Dalhousie Harbour to mitigate potential impacts of in-water construction prior to and during an essential harbour revitalization project. American Eel are designated as Endangered under the Province of Ontario’s Endangered Species Act and were confirmed to be present in the area during initial sampling efforts of this project. While a combination of passive eel traps and boat electrofishing were used to capture eels, this dataset includes passive capture data only. A total of four eels were captured using eel traps and all individuals were relocated to Hamilton Harbour. Only two of the four eels captured were large enough to be tagged with acoustic transmitters, both of which eventually returned to Port Dalhousie from Hamilton Harbour. All other fish species captured in the traps were identified, counted and released at Port Dalhousie./ En 2018 et 2019, Pêches et Océans Canada a mené un projet visant à relocaliser l’anguille d’Amérique (Anguilla rostrata) du havre à Port Dalhousie afin d’atténuer les répercussions potentielles des travaux de construction dans l’eau avant et pendant un projet essentiel de revitalisation du havre. L’anguille d’Amérique est désignée comme espèce en péril en vertu de la Loi sur les espèces en péril de l’Ontario, et il a été confirmé qu’elle était présente dans la région lors des premiers travaux d’échantillonnage de ce projet. Bien qu’une combinaison de pièges à anguilles passifs et de pêche à l’électricité en bateau a été utilisée pour capturer les anguilles, le présent ensemble de données comprend uniquement des données de capture passive. Au total, quatre anguilles ont été capturées au moyen de pièges à anguilles, et toutes ont été relocalisées dans le port de Hamilton. Seulement deux des quatre anguilles capturées étaient assez grandes pour être marquées au moyen d’émetteurs acoustiques. Du port de Hamilton, ces deux anguilles sont finalement retournées à Port Dalhousie.
