<div style='text-align:Left;'><div><div><p><span><span>Bluefin tuna landings are reported to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and stored in the Maritime Fishery Information System Database. This database was queried in January 2016 for all reported landings of Bluefin tuna in coastal Nova Scotia. Longline data was excluded due to location uncertainties associated with the gear. Bluefin tuna sightings are also reported opportunistically to the DFO Whale Sightings Database. The Coastal Oceanography and Ecosystem Research section considered these landings and sightings to estimate the presence of Bluefin tuna within the Area Response Plan areas. Bluefin tuna presence varies seasonally and this spatial information should be used in conjunction with temporal information. </span></span></p><p><span>A version of this dataset was created for the National Environmental Emergency Center (NEEC) following their data model and is available for download on the Federal Geospatial Platform (FGP).</span></p><p><a href='https://open.canada.ca:443/data/en/dataset/0c3b25df-f831-43e8-a8ac-336e1467c4fe' style='text-decoration:underline;'><span>Learn more or download this dataset from the Government of Canada's Open data portal.</span></a></p><p><span>Les débarquements de thon rouge sont déclarés au MPO et conservés dans le Système d’information sur les pêches des Maritimes des Maritimes. Cette base de données a été consultée en janvier 2016 pour tous les débarquements de thon rouge de la zone côtière de la Nouvelle-Écosse. Les données de la pêche à la palangre ont été exclues en raison de l’incertitude des emplacements liés à cet engin. Les observations du thon rouge de l’Atlantique sont également déclarées de façon fortuite par la base de données sur les observations de baleines du MPO. Les données ont été consultées en janvier 2016. La section de recherche sur l'océanographie et les écosystèmes côtiers a tenu compte de ces débarquements et observations pour évaluer la présence du thon rouge dans la zone du plan d’intervention. La présence du thon rouge varie selon les saisons; les renseignements spatiaux doivent être utilisés conjointement avec l’information temporelle.
