Water temperature and water level are significant environmental factors affecting ecology of anadromous fish. Large-scale freshwater monitoring networks remain sparse, yet environmental protocols rely heavily on water temperature and water levels to assist decision making on river closures. Our river monitoring project in Newfoundland and Labrador provides river water temperature and river water level for salmon rivers across the province. 72 temperature loggers are deployed across 24 river systems in Newfoundland and Labrador. Temperature loggers are deployed in approximately 30 cm of water and remain in river year-round. Loggers consist of Onset level loggers, tidbit loggers, and pendants or Innovasea minilogs. Some loggers are deployed in duplicate at locations to provide data redundancy in event of equipment loss or failure. Equipment is monitored throughout the season to ensure proper placement in water columns, with downloads taking place during monitoring trips.<\/SPAN><\/P>

Water temperature and water level are significant environmental factors affecting ecology of anadromous fish. Large-scale freshwater monitoring networks remain sparse, yet environmental protocols rely heavily on water temperature and water levels to assist decision making on river closures. Our river monitoring project in Newfoundland and Labrador provides river water temperature and river water level for salmon rivers across the province. 72 temperature loggers are deployed across 24 river systems in Newfoundland and Labrador. Temperature loggers are deployed in approximately 30 cm of water and remain in river year-round. Loggers consist of Onset level loggers, tidbit loggers, and pendants or Innovasea minilogs. Some loggers are deployed in duplicate at locations to provide data redundancy in event of equipment loss or failure. Equipment is monitored throughout the season to ensure proper placement in water columns, with downloads taking place during monitoring trips.<\/SPAN><\/P>

La température de l\u2019eau et le niveau d\u2019eau sont deux facteurs environnementaux importants qui influent sur l\u2019écologie des poissons anadromes. Les réseaux de surveillance en eau douce à grande échelle demeurent rares bien que les protocoles environnementaux reposent fortement sur ces deux facteurs pour orienter la prise de décisions concernant la fermeture de cours d'eau. Le projet de surveillance des cours d'eau à saumon à Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador vise à fournir des renseignements sur la température de l\u2019eau et le niveau d\u2019eau. Dans la province, 72 enregistreurs sont installés à une profondeur d\u2019environ 30 cm dans l\u2019eau de 24 réseaux hydrographiques et ils y demeurent toute l\u2019année. Ces appareils sont des enregistreurs de niveau d\u2019eau, des enregistreurs de température TidBit et des enregistreurs pouvant être suspendus de la marque Onset, et des enregistreurs Minilog de la marque Innovasea. Dans certains cas, une paire d'enregistreurs est installée sur un site afin de pallier d\u2019éventuelles pertes ou défaillances d\u2019équipement.
