Air and water temperature, salinity, depth, dissolved oxygen, weather conditions, list of biofouling AIS, percent cover of AIS on PVC plates.<\/SPAN><\/P>

NOTES ON QUALITY CONTROL:<\/SPAN><\/P>

Each sample and species is processed and identified in a standardized fashion using standardized DFO Science AIS protocols and taxonomic references. Data is manually entered into DFO Gulf Region's AIS Science biofouling database and randomly verified for accuracy.<\/SPAN><\/P>

SAMPLING METHODS:<\/SPAN><\/P>

Biofouling monitoring is conducted using PVC collector plates that are deployed in the water column approximately 1 meter below the sea surface in the spring of each year. Biofouling organisms settle on these plates which are collected in the fall of the same year. Abundances of AIS are given as percent plate cover. Physico-chemical data including temperature, conductivity, and depth as well as weather conditions are noted at each geo-referenced biofouling monitoring site during initial deployment and at time of retrieval. All biofouling organisms settled on the underside of the PVC plates are noted and percent cover of each AIS is estimated.<\/SPAN><\/P>

The data collected from DFO's biofouling monitoring program provides an overview of the distribution and abundance of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in the Gulf Region. NOTES ON QUALITY CONTROL:<\/SPAN><\/P>

Each sample and species is processed and identified in a standardized fashion using standardized DFO Science AIS protocols and taxonomic references. Data is manually entered into DFO Gulf Region's AIS Science biofouling database and randomly verified for accuracy.<\/SPAN><\/P>

SAMPLING METHODS:<\/SPAN><\/P>

Biofouling monitoring is conducted using PVC collector plates that are deployed in the water column approximately 1 meter below the sea surface in the spring of each year. Biofouling organisms settle on these plates which are collected in the fall of the same year. Abundances of AIS are given as percent plate cover. Physico-chemical data including temperature, conductivity, and depth as well as weather conditions are noted at each geo-referenced biofouling monitoring site during initial deployment and at time of retrieval. All biofouling organisms settled on the underside of the PVC plates are noted and percent cover of each AIS is estimated.<\/SPAN><\/P>

Procéder à une détection précoce des espèces aquatiques envahissantes (EAE) nouvellement arrivées et déterminer la répartition, l'établissement et la distribution spatiale des EAE existantes dans les eaux marines du sud du golfe du Saint-Laurent (SGSL), limites de la région du Golfe du MPO (côtes nord et est du NB, rives du golfe de la N.-É. et rivage de l\u2019Île-du-Prince-Édouard).<\/SPAN><\/P>

DESCRIPTION:<\/SPAN><\/P>

Les Sciences du MPO surveillent les EAE dans la région du Golfe. Les données recueillies dans le cadre du programme de surveillance de l'encrassement biologique du MPO donnent un aperçu de la répartition et de l'abondance des espèces aquatiques envahissantes (EAE) dans la région du Golfe. Cette information peut être utilisée par le grand public, les scientifiques et les gestionnaires du MPO.<\/SPAN><\/P>

Chaque échantillon et espèce est traité et identifié de manière normalisée à l'aide de protocoles normalisés d'EAE des Sciences du MPO et de références taxonomiques. Les données sont entrées manuellement dans la base de données d'EAE de la Région du Golfe du MPO et leur exactitude est vérifiée de manière aléatoire.<\/SPAN><\/P>

MÉTHODES D'ÉCHANTILLONNAGE:<\/SPAN><\/P>

La surveillance de l'encrassement biologique est effectuée à l'aide de plaques collectrices en PVC qui sont déployées dans la colonne d'eau à environ 1 mètre sous la surface de la mer au printemps de chaque année. Des organismes d'encrassement biologique se fixent sur ces plaques qui sont récupérées à l'automne de la même année. Les abondances d'EAE sont exprimées en pourcentage de couverture sur les plaques. Les données physico-chimiques, incluant la température, la conductivité et la profondeur ainsi que les conditions météorologiques, sont notées à chaque site de surveillance géoréférencé au cours du déploiement initial et au moment de la récupération des plaques. Tous les organismes d\u2019encrassement biologique installés sur la face inférieure des plaques de PVC sont notés et le pourcentage de recouvrement de chaque EAE sur les plaques est estimé.<\/SPAN><\/P>
